Two weeks of educational, joyful and intensive training in gastronomy have passed. The combination of theory and practice has proven to succeed. It was a right way to immediately apply learned knowledge and to experience the everyday working life. Theory helped to understand the processes and to improve the German language by using flashcards at the same time. Jumping in to different characters supported the learning effects on how to take care of a customer, handle reservations and order foodstuff at the supplier. All in all it was a comprehensive and diverse programme. In the end, interviews were scheduled in order to apply for internships.
Although being nervous is when talking to a potential employer is self-evident, the participants wouldn’t want to have missed this opportunity. The final interviews completed the job orientation and offered a chance to directly get in contact with employers and internship positions. Everyone was well-prepared for the talks. We can be confident that there will be success stories to tell. The participants did a great job. All in all their performance and the development during the two weeks were fantastic. In a short time, they learned so much, were introduced to the German work culture and held a 20 minutes interview with managers. Always motivated, even when the day started at 5:45 am, the participants took the challenges as a group and helped each other out. We can’t be more proud!
The participant’s feedback was very positive. They like the practical, fun and educational mix. We were able to show the different career paths, the vocational training system. Consciously they experienced that with internships, practical experience and an adequate level of German, you can easier integrate in to a society on a long-term basis. With our gastronomy workshop we were able to support our participants on that journey.
We couldn’t have done it without our engaged and supportive partners. Munich Airport with its pilot project supporters and contributors made it possible for the participants to get real-life impressions. We are glad that we have such an international and awarded employer on our side for the project. In addition Kolping and ETC were essential partners! Thank you EXAM-HoGA, Eurest, Hilton, McDonald’s and Allresto for your contributions.
The pilot is completed. We take a lot of lessons learned and experience with is for the next workshops and projects. We maintain the partnerships we have made and are always looking for additional supporters and partners of the project!
